We’ve Been Yuba-ized!
The Driftless Region Bicycle Coalition is now the proud owner of a new Yuba “Mundo” cargo bike! This fantastic piece of bicycle engineering was donated to the DRBC by Kevin Miller, owner of Blue Heron Bicycle Works in Onalaska, WI.
We are getting to the point where we can not carry everything we needed for some events on our standard sized bicycles and I hate having to drive to a bicycling event where we are promoting the benefits of bicycling. I also thought having one would allow us to show people the potential of the bicycle. So I had sent out letters on behalf of the DRBC to several cargo bike companies. I thought that we might get one of them to have pity on a rapidly growing bicycle advocacy organization. After all, our work does help their business.
Kevin heard me talking about it and said he would just donate us a Yuba – Mundo cargo bike. We did not lobby him, he simply heard that we really wanted one and stepped up and donated a brand new bike to us! How fantastic is that? Blue Heron Bicycle Works already participates in our Benefits Partner Program and they have now taken their commitment to bicycle advocacy and eduction in our region to a new level. Be sure to thank him every time you see him!
Thanks Kevin, from the members of the DRBC! (I guess that means you as well)
Here are some images I took of the bike while riding it back from Onalaska, let me tell you it is a serious conversation starter. The Yuba Mundo will carry up to 440 pounds, plus the rider according to their website. Click on images to see larger size.
